“For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.”(Colossians 3:3)

Wisdom, strength and riches are the three areas the world pursues with a passion. Such pursuit results in the three great areas of sin: intellectual pride, lustful passion and greed. Anyone who achieves status in one of these three areas is celebrated by the world.

Jeremiah said, “Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom or the strong man boast of his strength or the rich man boast of his riches” (Jeremiah 9:23). Our entire boast should be in the awesome fact that we understand and know the Lord personally.

Paul reminded the Colossians, “For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God” (Colossians 3:3). We must put to death the proud mind of man that flatters and exalts us in our own eyes. We must put to death whatever belongs to our “earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust” (v 5). We must also put to death “evil desires and greed, which is idolatry” (v 5). Let us put on humility, purity and generosity. The world may not appreciate us when we do, but in God’s eyes we will be in pursuit of the true wisdom, strength and riches!

“My life is now hidden with Christ in God. My Father is a spirit and I will therefore worship Him, Amen.”
