“No soldier when in service gets entangled in the enterprises of [civilian] life; his aim is to satisfy and please the one who enlisted him.” (2 Timothy 2:4 – Amplified)

As soldiers we must realize it’s not just hard times that are dangerous. Good times are dangerous too. At times when God showers us with a lot of money, we can allow ourselves to grow cold to the things of God.

This can hinder us in the day of battle. As you live by faith it is easy to get entangled in the affairs of this life. In fact, it seems at times that the world is like an octopus, which is always trying to grab you with its tentacles. This can be a hindrance and can hold you down and keep you from soaring with the eternal things of God.

Entanglement will choke the Word of God that has been planted in your heart and leave you without faith and without Power. We must be especially vigilant against such entanglements because we have such abundance. What must one do then? As a Soldier there is only one thing for you to do: Simplify your life. Spend more time in the presence of God and His Word. This is what will make you successful in life. Don’t get involved with trivialities in life. There are things that are inconsequential and insignificant. These matters will steal your time and energy and draw you away from things that are holy.

“I am a Good soldier of Christ Jesus and refuse to get involved in civilian affairs. I am fully involved in the Kingdom walk. Amen.”
