SET YOUR AFFECTIONS ON THINGS ABOVE
“Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.”
(Colossians 3:2)
The greatest rewards on earth come from faith and Spirit. As a
believer, begin to enrich your soul and do not put your focus on
material goods. Begin to focus your attention on the Kingdom of
God. The above Scripture tells us that we must set our affection on
the things above. The Greek Word literally says, “Set your mind on
things above”. We are not to be preoccupied with things on the earth
such as: philosophies, practices and vices. Further we are not to
allow ourselves to dwell on things that are not wrong in themselves,
such as houses, jobs, careers, ambitions etc.
However we can put these things as priorities over Christ and make
them to be wrong. We must not allow anything to be placed above
our Love of Christ. When we set our affection on Him, all these
things we desire shall be added to our life. Since you have been
raised together with Christ, set your heart on things above, where
Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Your Father is a Spirit;
therefore you must worship Him in Spirit.
As you awake each and every day, set your affections on things that
are above. Keep your mind on the Word of God. In this way you
practice the Presence of God. Set your affections on the Word of
God and His Grace.
