THE GRACE OF GIVING (PART 1)
Therefore, as ye abound in every [thing, in] faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and [in] all diligence, and [in] your love to us, [see] that ye abound in this grace also. (2 Corinthians 8:7)
We must now examine and consider the Spiritual Key to the only kind of giving that is truly acceptable to God. It is expressed in one simple and beautiful word, GRACE. In the New Testament we are not talking about giving by law or commandment, but about giving that comes out of Grace.
Paul spoke about this Grace in the great giving chapter found in 2 Corinthians. In this Chapter that deals with giving, the word Grace occurs seven times.
It is the Key Word. Unless we understand Grace and how Grace motivates giving, we will not really understand God’s plan for our money. Grace is internal. It works from within, not from without. It is written on the heart, not on tablets of stone. It is written by the Holy Spirit. No other agent can write the Grace of God in our hearts but the Holy Spirit (See 2 Corinthians 3:3).
So, there is a Grace of Giving. Let us begin to operate in that Grace and then partake in the blessings of God on a daily basis. Begin to see yourself in partnership with the Lord in your giving. So, there is no telling what you might do, because when God and you get together, blessings flow from every direction. Let your giving and sowing come out of Grace.
