God made Jesus, who knew no sin, to be sin for us, that we might
be made the righteousness of God in Jesus. There was an exchange
that took place. Jesus was made sin so that we might become
righteous. We were made righteous by the righteousness of God. In
the Book of Matthew we read “But seek ye first the kingdom of God,
and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
(Matt 6:33)

That righteousness is of God which is received through faith in
Jesus Christ. In the book of Isaiah we read: “But we are all as an
unclean [thing], and all our righteousness [are] as filthy rags; and we all
do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
(Isaiah 64.6) Yes, that was before Jesus came. This verse says that
“our righteousness are as like filthy rags”. Even our best conduct
and behavior does not match up for what is required in heaven. Oh
but praise God!

Once we received Christ Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we become
the righteousness of God. God requires that we put away those
“filthy rags” of our own righteousness. We must rely, accept and
rest on God’s righteousness made available to us through Jesus

“Thank you Lord Jesus, for your work on the cross. I accept your
righteousness because you were made sin with my sinfulness, that I may
be made the righteousness of God, Amen.”
