“Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God”. (2 Corinthians 7:1) To be committed to God is an essential element of spiritual growth. Commitment requires that you will be willing to give yourself wholly to God and to obey Him in all areas of your life. It also implies that you will make sufficient time for God: Time to study your Bible and time to pray. Commitment also requires that you live a life totally dedicated to God. The Message words it as follows, “…let’s make a clean break with everything that defiles or distracts us…Let’s make our entire lives fit and holy temples for the worship of God.” Before you can live a life totally committed to God, it is necessary to have a major spring-cleaning in your life. Sin in your life prevents God from hearing your prayers. “But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.” the Prophet Isaiah warns God’s sinful people (Isaiah 59:2). This warning is personally addressed to you. Think carefully about the things in your life that are still causing estrangement between you and God. Pray about them and ask the Lord to specifically show you those things in your life. Confess your sins by name and then go and live differently by forsaking those sins. Prayer for Today – “Lord, I want to live a life of greater commitment to You. Please forgive all my sins and help me forsake them so that, from now on, my entire life will glorify Your Name in Jesus Mighty Name, Amen”. – Faith Centre International
