“For the Word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart”. (Hebrews 4:12) God gives us His Word as a Sword – not a sword to use against others, but a sword that judges our own thoughts and the attitudes of our own hearts. A Christian can never be untouched by the Word – it changes your life if you are willing to obey it. Perhaps this is one of the reasons why we are hesitant to become quiet with the Word, in the presence of God. To become quiet with God’s Word requires you to empty yourself, to get rid of the sins, to forsake wrong deeds and to nurture a different attitude towards the people you don’t like. In other words, you are required to open yourself to the Word and to allow God’s Word to change you into a new person. When you are empty of yourself, God’s Word can fill you with new Wisdom and Insight and inject hope and joy into your life. This hope and joy do not depend on your physical circumstances; it will never be taken away from you and will fill you anew with courage for the road ahead. God’s Word is indeed the Sword of the Spirit. “And take the helmet of Salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.” (Ephesians 6:17) Prayer for Today – “Lord, empty me of myself so that I can open myself to Your Word. Let Your Word change me into the person that you intended me to be in Jesus Name, Amen”. – Faith Centre International
